What the doc ordered

My family loves “Doc Mcstuffins”, a new Disney kiddie show featuring a little girl who uses her magical medical tools to fix up toys.
The little girl was inspired to become a doc because that’s what her mommy does. The dad is an awesomely involved stay at home pop and the kids live in a diverse neighborhood.
Such a lovely depiction of middle class black family life.
I also LOVE how our kiddo claps, points, and says “mama” when the TODAY Show comes on. She does the same whenever she sees laptops and says “hi mama” when playing on my iPhone. She says “hi dada” whenever a car pulls into the drive or she sees a brother with dreads and wearing a tie walking by.
And because my hubby and I both have long dreads, she loves anything that’s long and coarse. She walks around the house rubbing shoestrings, sandal straps, and stuffed animals’ tails against her cheek. Ever since she was little, she would wrap her tiny fingers in our hair and snuggle next to us.
Talk about making the heart go all warm and fuzzy.

About domesticpolichick

My life is a crazy jumble of sitcom-level domestic hijinks and fast-paced political reporting in the nation's capital. Breastfeeding while doing a phone interview with a senator...yep, I've done it and no, I won't reveal the name. Toddler calling a member of Congress on the cell..yeah, that really did happen. Pregnant in high heels on Capitol Hill trying to chase down a particularly grumpy senator, yeah...that was nuts. But what can I say? I'm just one domestic polichick trying to figure out the work-life balance.
