The tale of two little embryos

Once upon a time there was a mommy journalist who was eagerly awaiting the transfer of two little embryos.
On the specially appointed day , the mommy packed her family up for a bit of kiddie music fun before the surgery.
But then, gasp, the very powerful U.S. Supreme court issued a decision on a very important immigration case.
The mommy rushed to a nearby table to write, her heart breaking as she heard her toddler’s wails of “mama” beckoning her back.
She did battle with an iPhone that chose that moment to run slow and an overly full bladder that threatened to run fast.
The mommy hit send then raced–with family in tow–to the infertility clinic.
She did a follow up phone interview with an undocumented immigrant for the story in the car on the way.
She answered her editor’s questions while getting an IV.
Then it was time for the hard working mommy to take a nice med-induced nap.
When she woke up there were two little embryos inside her trying to grow into healthy babies.
The little family was very happy and very hopeful. And the super nana, who arrived in time to help the family, made them homemade Mac n cheese and cupcakes.
The mommy ate and was very happy.
She drifted off to sleep dreaming of family.

About domesticpolichick

My life is a crazy jumble of sitcom-level domestic hijinks and fast-paced political reporting in the nation's capital. Breastfeeding while doing a phone interview with a senator...yep, I've done it and no, I won't reveal the name. Toddler calling a member of Congress on the cell..yeah, that really did happen. Pregnant in high heels on Capitol Hill trying to chase down a particularly grumpy senator, yeah...that was nuts. But what can I say? I'm just one domestic polichick trying to figure out the work-life balance.
